How to Add Back-in-Stock Notifications on Shopify

Sold-out products do not have to mean lost customers. With the right back-in-stock notification setup, you can capture emails on the product page and alert shoppers automatically when inventory returns.

Why Shopify merchants need back-in-stock alerts

Shopify’s default sold-out experience ends at a disabled “Sold out” button. That works for transparency, but it does nothing to recover demand. Back-in-stock notifications add a second path: subscribe now, buy later.

Step 1: Install a back-in-stock app

Step 2: Enable the Notify Me widget

In your Shopify theme editor:

Step 3: Test the signup flow

On a sold-out product:

1. Click the notify bar to expand the form
2. Submit a test email address
3. Confirm the success state appears
4. Verify the subscriber shows in your Restock Pro dashboard

Step 4: Let automation handle restocks
